Outback
The first of the 2022 Subaru Outback trim levels is simply called the Outback. It features a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission that distributes power to all four wheels via the Subaru symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. The SAWD system includes X-MODE, which allows you to detect traction dynamics via driver-selectable modes. Standard exterior features include 17-inch alloy wheels with a black machine finish, LED headlamps that are steering responsive, LED fog lamps and raised roof rails. The cabin features manually automatic climate control, adjustable front seats, 60/40-split and flat-folding rear seating, cloth upholstery and underfloor storage. Amenities include dual front USB input ports, four-speaker audio and dual 7.0-inch touchscreens.
Premium
The Premium is the second of the trim levels available for the 2022 Subaru Outback. A notable exterior upgrade is that body-colored side mirrors are enhanced with integrated turn signal indicators. It also adds deicers for the front and rear wipers. It also upgrades the cabin with dual-zone automatic temperature control, power-adjustable front seats with heating, an 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a leather-wrapped gearshift handle, dual rear USB charging ports, a six-speaker audio system, Wi-Fi hotspot and a retractable and removable cover for the cargo area.
Limited
The Limited adds 18-inch wheels and larger tires to match. It upgrades the front seating with even more adjustability. The rear seating also gets heating. All of the seating is upgraded to leather-trimmed upholstery. Keyless access with push-button start and PIN-code vehicle access becomes standard at this point as does a hands-free power liftgate with automatic close and a height memory function. The Limited also adds a memory system for the driver seat and driver-side mirror. The audio system is upgraded to a premium Harman Kardon sound system with a GreenEdge amp and 12 speakers. This trim also upgrades the standard EyeSight suite with blind-spot monitoring and reverse automatic braking.
Touring
The Touring trim is the range-topping package for the non-XT models available at our dealership serving Glen Cove Oyster Bay Sea Cliff Long Island. It features satin-chrome finishes in place of the body-colored accents found on the lower trims. It adds ventilation to the front seating. The upholstery is upgraded with Nappa leather. Integrated navigation becomes standard with this trim. A CD player is added to the infotainment setup. EyeSight is upgraded with a 180-degree front-view camera system in addition to the rear-vision camera system included with the base package.
XT Models
Beyond the Touring, there are four 2022 Subaru Outback trim levels, which make up the XT series. The main difference between the XT and non-XT models is the engine: a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer four-cylinder engine that makes 260 hp and 277 lb.-ft. The Onyx Edition XT is essentially the base model for the XT trims. The Wilderness is a new for this model and the only trim in the XT series not to carry the XT designation. The Outback Limited XT maps to the Limited discussed above, and the Outback Touring XT is the range-topping trim for the XT models. The Wilderness is the most distinct trim in that it is off-road-oriented and features an enhanced suspension, skid plates and additional X-MODE modes.
